Drop for Youth 2021

Lucretia Treadgold —

Drop for youth 2021 did not disappoint, with special thanks to Hanmer Springs Attractions for the experience of elation from a 35-metre free fall to the surging river below, amidst stunning scenery at Canterbury’s only Bungy site.

29 jumpers had the time of their lives, raising $14,576.17 which will help fund the Graeme Dingle Foundation Canterbury. The funds will be used to help programs which work alongside tamariki and rangatahi at different life stages to build self-esteem, promote good values, and teach valuable life skills.

One teacher, ten Hornby High students, and two ex Project K students and their mentors, all took the opportunity to experience a thrill of a lifetime. Rosa (Year 13) was the top fundraiser, taking away the trophy and there were several winners when it came to the loudest screams!

It was such an amazing day sharing all the joy and nerves from each of the participants and their friends and whānau who came to support each of them on their fundraising quest and who came along to watch on the big day. We will definitely be doing it again before the end of the year, so make sure you don't miss out on this amazing experience come October.

Thanks to Hellers for lunch which was enjoyed by everyone.
