Year 10-12 Tīeke Dean's Report

Andrea Cosgrove —

Kia ora koutou whānau of Tīeke Kāhui. Welcome back for Term 3. This term is now well underway and it is crunch time for our senior students.

Our Year 12 students are about to leave for ‘Next Steps Camp’ where they will be thrown into the deep end to learn some amazing skills for life. This camp is a chance for our students to learn some great leadership skills and get an idea of what being a Year 13 leader would be like. Not only does this teach them skills of leadership, it also teaches our Year 12’s great skills to take into the workforce or university.

Term 3 is traditionally a very busy term with tournament week and assessment week. It is really important for our students to keep on top of their work and ask for help whenever they need it. We are here to help.

Year 10’s have had option changes for the second semester so it's great to see them all in their new classes trying different things. Soon they will be starting passion projects in wānanga so I am looking forward to seeing where their passions lead them.

Year 11’s will be experiencing their first assessment week this term which is a great way to get a feel for NCEA exams. Remember every learner is on their own path, however I would like to be seeing Year 11’s sitting at around 30 credits (this is a gauge only), with almost gaining 10 literacy and 10 numeracy inside of that. Gaining 10 literacy and numeracy credits is the big goal for this year.

Year 12’s are doing really well with a good group of students gaining their NCEA level 2. Please remember also that everyone is on their own journey, don't compare yourself to others. I am very impressed with the hard work our Year 12’s have put in so thank you to our whānau for supporting them at home.

Keep up the good work. I am always here if students or whānau have any questions or need to discuss anything. I am more than happy to help.

Ngā mihi
