On June 24, whānau enjoyed a lively, colourful performance evening when NCEA students and the Shakespeare Festival teams shared their achievement creating rich theatre. There was a wonderful exhibition of whanaungatanga, the relationships of shared experience and working together, in the kindness and respect shown by students backstage, onstage, and in the audience, as they coped with technical issues, illness, and nervousness. Admirable resilience was shown as “the show must go on”.

We know some of our students - and their whānau - are worried that they might not be able to attain NCEA or UE this year, because of the disruption caused by COVID-19.

I decided to become a STARS Mentor because it made such an impact on me back in Year 9. At that time, I was new to Hornby High School, along with the fact that I just moved to New Zealand.

It may feel like a challenge to find 20 minutes each day to sit down and read with, beside, or to, your child. However, this small adjustment will make a large impact on their overall reading ability.

We would love to see you at Study Group which runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, 3.15 - 5.15pm in the Learning Commons.

Hornby High School is inviting enrolment applications from families now. If you have a younger sibling who would like to attend in 2021, please ensure you have completed an enrolment form. Applications for out of zone enrolments close 31 July 2020.

Could all parents please avoid driving onto the school grounds to drop off and pick up your children during the peak times at the start and end of the day.

The App can be used to access the parent portal, check the daily notices, check attendance and is the quickest and easiest way to notify us of an absence.

The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays. The clinics will offer treatment and relief of pain sessions by appointment only. To make an appointment please call/email our Contact Centre which operates between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday throughout the holidays.
