The weather gods have not looked kindly upon our athletics events this year. Our school event was badly affected with only one morning session being completed and then our back up day was a wash out.

Kia ora, It's the end of term 1 already! It's been a long and busy term and there are a lot of tired students. But, the junior Tīeke students are managing themselves well. There is a calm and happy feeling to the learning spaces.

Kia ora all Year 12 students and whānau, As we come to the end of the first term of 2024 there are many positives to take away as we head into the holidays as well as an opportunity to reset some expectations.

Kia ora all Hornby High School students and whānau, My name is Aaron Heath and I am the teacher in charge of senior student leadership at Hornby High School and the biggest part of that role is the prefect group.

This week the Year 11 PE students have spent the week learning how to Fence as part of their NCEA Programme.

There was a great turnout of Hornby High School students for the Otago University visit. Our wonderful liaison coordinator, Greg, had students listening intently to explain all about the University and of course, Dunedin.

There were a limited number of students allowed to attend the exploration of Trimble throughout Christchurch schools. Khush and Ranit were two of our students picked to attend. They had to sign confidentiality agreements and were taken on a tour of the future!

For Literacy our students have been learning about Anzac.We have learned about World War one and two.

A small group of our students participated in the School Strike 4 Climate Change protest.

This month our impressive student in music is Wiari Tutahi.

The new regulations on mobile phones are having a beneficial effect. Our library has been a hive of activity for the first term of 2024, even more so due to the change in cellphone usage during school hours.

With only 1 sleep until our Project K students take to the wilderness, it means it is time for our 2024 Gear Up Day!

We are in need of second hand unwanted uniforms. If any whanau out in the community have uniforms they could or would donate to our kura, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Our Junior Leaders are working hard on several projects within our kura. One of those projects is recycling.
