On Monday 5 July, our Year 13 Chemistry class got to experience the Ernest Rutherford building, the new science building at the University of Canterbury, to enhance their learning of the topic of Spectroscopy.

Over Monday and Tuesday, we had 4 teams competing in the Canterbury School Champs. All players played impressive games and did the school proud, competing against some of the best players in Canterbury.

Last week four students from our Year 12 history class (Nidhi, Nathan, Jessica, and Natasha) did us proud!

On Thursday 5 August CGTA and the University of Canterbury ran a Geography Scholarship day for those students intending to sit a Geography Scholarship at the end of the year. Three students from Hornby High School, Cameron (Year 13), Natasha (Year 12), and Nathan (Year 12) attended the training.

Being a STARS Mentor has been a great opportunity to work with the Year 9s and get to know them well. We have an amazing team of Stars mentors that I work with.

This year’s Starsopoly was a huge success with 25 organisations participating so that the Year 9 students could learn about their community in a fun and engaging way, gathering information about local resources, supports, and opportunities.
