We thought we were prepared, surely we knew what we just got ourselves into, surely it was just going to be like Outdoor Education. Little did we know it was harder than we thought. Here we were taking a six hour bus ride to Picton, to shortly get on a boat to arrive where we were going to call home for the next three weeks, based at Anakiwa in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds.

Mid-Year Reports, Learning Conferences, Course Selection and Senior Assessment Week.

It's great to see Term 3 has kicked off with some not so cold mornings, long may the warmer weather last! After these first few weeks it is pleasing to see students making a strong effort to arrive at school on time. Thank you again for the work you are all putting in behind the scenes to help our learners with this.

Term 3 has come around really quickly and there are lots of exciting things to look forward to!

At the end of last term we had an incredibly successful Musical Theatre showcase. This is an evening that showcases our senior Music and Drama students in the genre of Musical Theatre.

We love seeing our performers go off into the big wide world and carry on pursuing their passions.

We are in the home stretch of the near complete rebuild of our kura. The ‘kahui’ (or learning hubs) that will give us our more general learning spaces are due to be handed over to the school on Friday 13 September.

‘Inspiration and ideas for a new story’. That is what one student gained after attending the Books Alive workshops at Tūranga this term. 18 students ranging from Year 8-10 took up the opportunity to attend two presentations by prominent New Zealand authors.

Thank you to Mainland Foundation for funding of $5,417 to support our sports teams attending the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament.

Hornby High School are concerned about the safety of all students. Unfortunately, some students are arriving without a helmet.

Jaleel is a current Project K student. They have organised a quiz on Wednesday 21 August. See the attached poster for details.

We are aware that a number of students are arriving at school each day without a Chromebook.

School Office Hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 3.30pm

The App can be used to access the parent portal, check the daily notices, check attendance and is the quickest and easiest way to notify us of an absence.
