Room 12
Wayne Martyn - February 18, 2020
It has been great to see all the children back, and quickly getting back into Hornby Primary School's routines. All the new tamariki are learning our values and expectations and have settled in well.
We all enjoyed the annual Elgregoe Show - especially Mrs Cassidy. Many of the magic tricks amazed, and the rabbit made a full recovery.
With all the hot days it is good to have the pool to dunk the children in. And for some of us that are not used to it, the air con in the classrooms is very nice.
Thanks for your patience with the building activity going on around the place. There is always something new to see, and it should look good when it is finished and all the fiddly bits are sorted.
Classes have been setting up their routines, and there is a lot of testing happening at this time of year. Thanks to all the parents that came to the goal setting interviews. If you missed, contact your child's teacher with a time that suits to meet.
The school theme this year is Kaitiakitanga, which is based around guardianship and protecting, or looking after, our place and people. So the focus is on: looking after each other, and protecting the school environment.
Remember to ask your child about their learning, they might have something they are really proud of to share with you. As part of 'Learn/Create/Share' the children are encouraged to share their learning with others. Many of the Seniors are already blogging, with examples of their learning, and the Juniors have SeeSaw.
We look forward to your support throughout the year.
