School values

Gary Roberts —

What you told us ...

Last term we asked parents/whānau, children and staff what they valued about Hornby Primary School. We were then able to narrow the feedback down to 4 common themes:

  1. Manaakitanga - valued and respected, genuine care

  2. Whanaungatanga - a sense of belonging

  3. Manawaroa - resilience

  4. Auaha - to shape, creative, innovative

Ko te piko te māhuri tērā tipu o te rākau
The shaping of the young tree determines its growth as an adult

We look forward to implementing our new values across the school and we thank everyone for their feedback. Hornby Primary is well known for its manaakitanga and whanaungatanga, resilience has been a key competency for many years and auaha aligns beautifully with our Learn Create Share approach to teaching and learning 😀.
