Are you a passionate piper or composer? We invite you to create a legacy through music. Compose “The Spirit of the Hororātā”

The Hororata Community Trust is calling for original bagpipe tune compositions to celebrate and honour our 2025 Hororata Highland Games Chieftain – Michael Fraser Milne of Whisky Galore and all past Chieftains. For over a decade, Michael has brought the Hororata Whisky to life, working with Adelphi Distillery and partners in Scotland creating a range unique whiskies that fuels our festival and supports our community.

This is more than a tune – it’s a tribute to a remarkable partnership that spans oceans, the enduring power of community spirit, and the unmistakable energy of the Hororata Highland Games.

 The composition will be titled:
“The Spirit of the Hororātā”
A salute to the Michael, the Hororata Whisky and the unbreakable spirit of our rural community.

 This tune will be performed at the 2025 Games, forever part of our celebration and story.

Help us honour a true friend of the Games, and write a tune that will echo through the Southern Alps for years to come.
