Highland Games Heavy Events Training Day

Hororata Community Trust —

Time to get your caber tossing skills in shape for the Hororata Highland Games! Join us for a training day on Saturday, 28th September, Hororātā Domain.

Saturday 28th September is your opportunity to train in the unique Scottish Heavy Athletics; which requires a mix of strength, athleticism and sheer willpower.

The disciplines that will be included in the training day are Caber Toss, Hammer Throw, Stone Putt, weight for distance, and Sheaf Toss. Whether you are an experienced athlete or have never tried them before, you are welcome to join this training day. 

Craig Manson and David Jackways, each with over 10 years of competitive Highland Games experience, will lead the day.

All levels of ability are welcome. You do need a good level of fitness for the day.

Numbers are limited to 20 athletes.

Cost: $20.00 per person

Water, tea and coffee are provided; please bring your own lunch.

Please note if the weather is not good on Saturday 28th September we have a postponement date of Sunday 29th September. No refunds if you cannot attend.
