Giving for Gisborne Silent Charity Auction

Selwyn District Council will be running a Silent Charity auction at the Hororata Glow Festival to raise money to help the people of Gisborne recover from Cyclone Gabrielle.

This year’s Hororata Glow Festival comes with a chance to give to a good cause and enjoy yourself beyond the festival.

Bid for your chance to glide through the Selwyn skies, enjoy a luxury getaway, or have the Mayor mow your lawns to help the people of Tairāwhiti Gisborne in their recovery from Cyclone Gabrielle at our silent charity auction on Saturday (13 May).

Selwyn Council has adopted the Tairāwhiti Gisborne region through the Local Government New Zealand Adopt-a-Community programme partnering communites to support areas hardest hit by Cyclone Gabrielle. So far schools have partnered up to help their counter parts and Selwyn Sounds attendees donated thousands to the Gisborne Mayoral Relief Fund. Now it’s the chance for Hororata Glow Festival attendees to join in.

So visit the barn at the Glow, view the huge range of items that have been donated and get bidding for what you’d like, knowing the money is going to a great cause.

Giving to the Mayoral Relief Fund ensures funding goes into meeting immediate needs and long-term projects identified by those in Tairāwhiti Gisborne as being what they need to recover, Selwyn Mayor Sam Broughton says. “As a community we know first-hand what a huge boost it is to have others supporting us in the long-haul recovery from this disaster. Now it’s our turn and it’s good to see how generous and creative Selwyn people have been in giving back and helping others."

This auction is run by the Selwyn District Council.
