Hororata Glow Festival - about us

The Hororata Glow Festival is a spectacular event brought to you by the Hororata Community Trust and Ballooning Canterbury.

The Hororata Glow Festival is a biennial event so it will be back next year - Saturday 10th May 2025.

A registered Charity, Hororata Community Trust is all about helping this rural community grow and achieve its goals.

Ballooning Canterbury is a family business offering commercial hot-air balloon flights operating from Hororata. They offer people from all around the world the ultimate scenic adventure.

Together with 130 volunteers, they make the Hororata Glow Festival happen.

All profits from the event are invested back into the community. Our main focus is developing the Hororata Community Hub surrounding the existing historic Hororata Hall. We will develop a modern vibrant community hub that retains heritage and provides for community needs now and into the future. The hub will provide fantastic facilities for the community to use and be a destination for people to visit.

The Hororata Glow Festival also provides an opportunity for many community groups to fundraise for their own causes. This year the following groups are participating in the festival:

  • Glentunnel Primary School
  • Darfield High School
  • Hororata Primary School
  • Sunrise Rotary
  • Rolleston Rotary
  • Hororata Parish
  • Windwhistle School
  • Rolleston Scouts
  • Malvern Lions
  • Organ Donation Awareness
  • Giving for Gisborne
  • Selwyn Rugby Club
  • Rural Women - Darfield Division
  • Hororata Target Shooting Club
  • Canterbury Astronomical Society
  • TM Dance World Showcase team
  • Lake Coleridge Tourism Group

Thank you for supporting our community.
