On April 8th 1878 the Hororata Domain Board became the first of its kind to be established in New Zealand.

June 2022 will see the end of an era for the Hororata Domain Board as the Selwyn Council dissolves committees of the Council. Our community has a long proud history with its management of the Hororata Domain. Many people have volunteered their time to look after this valuable asset as part of Domain Boards over the past 144 years. What foresight our forebears had to create this wonderful community space for future generations.  

While this is a change in governance structure the community is committed to staying involved in our Domain. Hororata Reserve and Citizens committees are working through this process now.

A public meeting will be held by the community Wednesday 4th May 7pm at the Hororata Hall to let everyone know the way forward. More details to come, save the date.
