Student Safety

Carlien Botha —

Please observe the "No Right Turn" sign as you head out of the drop off bay at these times: 8:00 am - 9:15 am and 2:45 pm - 3:30 pm

We appreciate this may be an inconvenience for some of you, however, student safety is paramount for us and this helps to significantly ease congestion at peak times.

Parking - Drop Off Zone

The school drop off is not a car park. Please drive to the far end of the drop off where your child may exit the car. If the zone is clear, do not stop half way as this can cause congestion should other cars follow after you. Please move up the line as space becomes available.

When the drop off bay is full when collecting your child in the afternoon, please consider circling the block instead of queuing on the main road. This can lead to traffic congestion and pose a risk to the safety of our students.

Please observe the restricted parking signs on either side of the main entrance on Botany Road. Also, be mindful of your parking and do not park on yellow lines or closer than one meter to a neighbouring driveway.

There is alternative parking available on Bradbury Road and surrounding streets. You also have the option of using Dalwhinnie Parade or the Howick Recreation Centre to drop your child off.

We have a road patrol operating on Bradbury and Botany Roads to enable students to cross safely. Please do not call them across the road if you have parked there.

Students are NOT allowed to cross Botany Road or Pakuranga Highway unless they use a pedestrian crossing.

Pakuranga Road Bus Bay

Howick Intermediate students and parents are NOT to use the Pakuranga Road Bus Bay. This area is designated for buses and the Sommerville School Satellite Unit only.

To ensure the safety of all students, please use the designated drop-off area on Botany Road.

Automatic Gates

For the safety of our students, our school front gates are automatic and open once you drive up to the gate between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

There is also a pedestrian gate to the left of the front gate. This is left unlocked and can be opened by lifting the gate latch.

Thank you for your assistance in prioritising student safety.
