Positive Behaviour for Learning - PB4L
suzanne newton - January 4, 2021
Why PB4L?
We acknowledge that we face a number of challenges with behaviour on a daily basis in our school. Traditional, punitive approaches to managing behaviour no longer sit alongside our philosophy of inclusive, respectful and relationship based education.
PB4L is evidence based, Ministry of Education endorsed and based on the essential principles of behaviour and contexts. It is designed to be individualised for each school, it is framework based for consistency and involves explicit teaching of key core behaviours for sustainability.
Desired outcomes
Our desired outcome is a school where we are inclusive, positive, proactive, educative, corrective and restorative. All students and staff will benefit from a sense of belonging to a positive environment. This will in turn increase outcomes of success.
Values
Te Kura o te Mātāpuna, Isleworth students & staff ROCK.
Be Resilient
Be Outstanding
Be Connected
Be Kind
We have worked to incorporate the new vision, our cultural narrative, the history of the Bishopdale area and areas that we believe benefit our next generation of learners. Staff will teach lessons using a set planner for the year to explicitly teach the core values. The expectations are the four values will be lived out by all members of Te Kura o te Mātāpuna, Isleworth School whanau.
