Senior Team Newsletter, Week 8, Term 1
Week 8 - and Safety is our theme this week.
This week we have been lucky enough to have Diane from New Zealand Swimming in to teach our students some water safety skills. We have had an emphasis on keeping ourselves safe in a variety of waters. With swimming coming to an end in the next couple of weeks (weather dependent) Diane has brought in a variety of equipment for our students to practise their skills with. The children particularly enjoyed using the lifejackets and The students also had a go at towing each other on dry land, remember ‘Get low, to tow’.
Thank you to Diane for providing this opportunity for our students.
As the weather gets cooler we will notify you when we have finished swimming and students no longer need to bring their togs, for now please send your children with them each day.

Road Patrol
On another safety note, we would like you to meet some of this term’s Road Patrollers.
These students give up their time before and after school to help us all cross the road safely. They have all been trained by the New Zealand Police to ensure we safely cross the road.

Hybrid-learning
As part of our response to the ever-changing Covid environment a Hybrid-Learning Model has been developed. This approach to learning has been adopted to allow all students and staff affected by COVID19/Omicron either as COVID positive or a household contact to participate in learning from home.
On our school website there is a tab labelled Hybrid Leaning and a link to Senior Hybrid Learning - Year 3-6 which takes you to the week's learning slides. This will be updated weekly and aligns as much as possible with what we are doing in the classroom at school to provide consistency for our students.
You can go straight to the website here http://www.isleworth.school.nz/a/KszMzJ7
Reminders
Sweatshirts - As the weather is getting colder and we have to have the doors open for ventilation students will need to wear a school sweatshirt (available from the Office for a fee) Please note that Team Moana has a large number of these in their lost property. Please make sure the sweatshirt is named so we can ensure it goes back to the right student.
Sunhats - The children need a hat to wear at Playtime and Lunchtime please. If there’s a problem or a hat has been misplaced, please speak (email) your child’s teacher.
Swimming - As this is part of our New Zealand Curriculum, please ensure that your child is prepared to swim each day.
