Principal's Welcome

Michael Davidson - February 15, 2025

Kia ora and a warm welcome to Te Kura o Te Mātāpuna – Isleworth School!

It is an absolute honour to lead this incredible school and to support our dedicated team of educators, amazing tamariki, and our wonderful school whānau. With a background as a Principal in beautiful Northland and experience as a Learning Support Service Manager at the Ministry of Education, I bring a deep passion for inclusive education, student wellbeing, and creating a learning environment where every child can thrive. I feel privileged to be part of this vibrant community and to use my experiences to support our students, staff, and families in achieving success together.

At our kura, children are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child is unique, full of potential, and capable of great things. Our vision, Poipoia ngā huruhuru kia puāwai – Inspiring learners to thrive, reflects our commitment to nurturing, challenging, and empowering our tamariki to grow into confident, capable, and kind individuals.

Learning at Te Kura o Te Mātāpuna is exciting, engaging, and meaningful. Our passionate and talented teachers are always looking for innovative ways to spark curiosity and inspire young minds. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, through the arts, or within our strong school community, we provide endless opportunities for children to learn, achieve, and succeed.

More than just a school, we are a whānau. We embrace our diverse cultures and value the strong partnerships we have with our families and the wider community. Our ROCK values - Resilience, Outstanding, Connected, and Kind - are woven into everyday life, shaping our students into lifelong learners who contribute positively to their communities and the world around them.

As Principal, I truly believe in the power of relationships and open conversations. My door is always open, and I encourage you to be involved, ask questions, and become part of our wonderful learning community. There’s nothing better than seeing our tamariki happy, engaged, and excited about learning. I can’t wait to share this journey with you.

We’d love for you to visit, experience the warmth of our school, and see what makes Te Kura o Te Mātāpuna such a special place to learn and grow.

Ngā mihi nui,
