Term 3 Update - Team Awa
Update regarding staffing changes in Team Awa.
July 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Haere mai to our new students and whānau, welcome back to those of you who are returning. The Junior school is growing rapidly and new challenges face us as we move forward.
As you will be aware Miss Eden Russell is currently on leave for a year. We had initially planned to have Ms Viola Kalauta returning to a full-time teaching role within our school however all good plans go astray. On the final day of the holidays we received confirmation that Ms Kalauta has been re-seconded to her Kāhui Ako position for a further 6 months. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to continue sharing her knowledge with other educators and recognition of her leadership expertise.
The Senior Leadership Team and Board believe lessening the impact of a staffing change for the students is beneficial, being able to utilise existing staff provides consistency and stability. We are fortunate that Mrs Elizabeth Crampton, who was already working in Team Awa during Term 2 part time has naturally assumed a full time position.
In addition we welcome Mrs Leanne Spicer for Term 3 & 4 to work collaboratively with Mrs Crampton. Mrs Spicer is an experienced New Entrant educator who has specialised in setting up new spaces mid-way through the year. She has been a regular reliever in our school too which helps with systems and processes. I know that we are extremely fortunate to have her working in Awa.
Both Mrs Crampton, Mrs Spicer and Miss Russell worked hard over the holiday break to ensure the transition for the students was seamless.
For parents who have queries or concerns about the staffing change in Awa I will be available to meet at a mutually convenient time or alternatively you can email me at suzanne.newton@isleworth.school.nz.
Ngā mihi nui
