The tuakana–teina relationship provides an ideal model for buddy systems. A more expert tuakana helps and guides a younger or less expert teina.

Every Thursday a small group of year 6 ākonga visit Mill Street Early Learning Centre.  At 10am a group of year 2 - 5 ākonga who are enjoying kapa haka head off to share their learning.  There is a lot of laughter, fun, singing and actions.

After morning tea our year 6 ākonga take turns at sharing their love of literacy.  They read and explore books with our teina.
