A Message from Mr Bell
Most people won't read this, but it usually contains insight into what we are doing 😂
It has been a great start to the year! If you walk into any of our classrooms you can see engaged students and the hum of learning. Students are quite excited to be learning about money this term.
We have a charming group of New Entrants in with Mrs Allen who already have work on the walls to show the skills they came to school with. I would also like to mention the returning students and new students who have come to our school strongly exhibiting R.I.C.H.E.R. values.
Professional Development: Our staff have been busy, and will continue to be busy, learning about the new curriculums that have been created for reading, writing and maths.
The Junior team will finish their professional development at the end of the term for Structured Literacy, whereas the Middle and Senior teachers are about to begin. This means that during the term there will be more days where teachers are out of the classroom than usual.
Teacher Only Days: There will be two teacher only days in Terms 3/4. Once our teachers have finished their Professional Development in Structured Literacy, we are expected to have two full days of professional development with the Ministry of Education. This needs to be completed by the end of the year. Teachers are attending professional development during term breaks! Both teachers and Learning Assistants attended PD on Literacy and Numeracy in January.
Construction: The work is finally completed on our buildings and everyone is back to where they are supposed to be. We now have two free learning spaces to support the learning for individuals or groups of students as they are needed. The basketball court was poured and completed before we came back. The foundations for the hoops are already in the ground, and we are just waiting for the hoops to be installed. A massive thanks to the Board of Trustees for approving this.
