Sports
Opportunites for our tamariki within and after kura.
Winter sports has begun. At kura we offer netball and hockey. These sporting codes are currently playing on Saturday mornings for netball, Friday and Thursday evenings for hockey.
Practices are held after school. To help your tamariki be prepared pack their sports clothes, shoes and any equipment (hockey sticks, mouth guards etc) the evening before.

- Be a good sport too
- Love watching them play
Sports at years 1-8 is all about developing skills and strategies to enjoy being active.
Football
LIbby Rayner, our Healthy Active Learning Community Coordinatior is currently liasing with Central Football to upskill our ākonga with in-school development.
Tennis
A small group of tennis players will be representing James Cook School in Whanganui next Friday. An update on how they go will be in the next newsletter.
Play Station
Sport Whanganui recently installed a “Play Station” at the Bulls Domain. This is a big steel box full of sports gear and equipment available for use at the Domain. It’s free to use and a great opportunity for whanau to play together. Check it out if you’re down there or feel free to donate items too!
Squash
From the 23rd May - 27 June, Rangitīkei Squash are offering sessions for tamariki 5-7 years (5:15 - 5:45pm) and 8-12 years (6-6:45pm). There is a small cost of $5 for the 6 weeks. See the advert below.
