PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Term 4 - Week 2
Dear Parents
We are in the final run of 2022 with an action-packed term of learning. Term 4 is a shorter term and yet always seems to have more in it.
The
Primary school are looking at different aspects of service as part of their
learning. This year Asian Outreach NZ will be coming in to discuss some of what
they do and how we can help as part of service learning. We will be holding two
market days to raise money for this worthy organisation and teaching our
students to be mission minded. The Year 5 students will be doing a missions’
course and the Year 6 students will be doing leadership training, through
Strength to Strength, in preparation for becoming the student leaders of JCS as
they go into Year 7 next year. Sports teams will be competing in Ki o Rahi, ACS
Cricket. Other sports being offered are cricket, swimming and table tennis.
Both the Tiwai and Ika learning areas are going on camp to Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp and Narrows Park Christian Camp respectively. Manu and
Wai learning teams are going to bless the folk at Selwyn Village rest home as
they sing carols and serve morning tea. Wai will be going to Orewa for a surf
day learning about water safety, in preparation for the summer holidays.
The Parents Association will be organising an end of year celebration for the community. This year we will be having cultural food stalls. So, watch this space for more information and come and enjoy the festivities. The year 8 students will celebrate their primary school years and look forward to new adventures at the Graduation Dinner. This is a formal time for them to be honoured for their service, growth and development at JCS over the years. The year will close with two awards ceremonies where we will celebrate hard work and excellence in the arts, sports and academic field.
We are ever grateful for the goodness and faithfulness of our God who provides many opportunities for growth and service. May all the glory always go to Him for all He is doing in our midst!
Yours in His service
