Welcome

Admin Staff —

We are delighted to introduce you to Calvin (“Calv”) Channing who joins our Jireh staff team as our new caretaker.

We are sad to say goodbye to Wayne as our maintenance man. Wayne has accepted a full time job.  It's a good move for him.

So we welcome Calv....!

Calv has been married for 46 years to Mary, and they have two adult children and two grandchildren. Mary was born in Singapore which is where Calv met her in 1972. He was there serving as a Missionary at ‘Jesus Saves Mission’, working in the area of drug rehabilitation and also in the slums. They soon knew they were meant to be married and came back to NZ to tie the knot before returning to Singapore to continue their mission work, finally returning to NZ in 1980 where they started their family.

Funny note – Calv’s son was born on Guy Fawkes Day (5 Nov), so for a while he thought that the fireworks meant that everyone was celebrating his birthday!

In 1982, Calv studied in Electrical Engineering and has enjoyed a long work career and is now semi-retired. He comes to us with a huge amount of experience, with his last positions being at the Auckland Hospital in Senior Administration, and prior to that as an Electrical Engineer.
