PARENT SUPPORT AT EVENTS

Admin Staff —

During the year, we have a number of Sports' teams representing JCS as part of the Sport Waitākere Whau Cluster.

There was a recent incident of disrespectful parent behaviour that took place at a sporting event. This was not to do with our school.
Sport Waitākere has sent through the following information, and attachments, to send out to our school community.

This is a good opportunity to be reminded of how we need to act at any event - school, or otherwise - especially when our young ones are watching.

We want to remind everyone of the role we play in setting a positive example for our tamariki and ensuring that our events remain safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all involved.

Attached, you’ll find the Whau Vision which outlines the core values that guide our cluster events:

  1. Pārekareka – Fun: Ensuring tamariki enjoy sport, have fun with friends, and develop a lifelong love for being active.

  2. Manawanui – Perseverance: Encouraging effort, persistence, and resilience in sports.

  3. Whakaute – Respect: Upholding respect for all – teammates, opponents, teachers, parents, referees, and the rules of the game.

These values are at the heart of our events, and it’s essential that we lead by example.
