Football Success

Jak and Ben —

Harry Rodger has always lead the way in the Boarding House but we now have some up and comers following his footsteps.

McGlashan College Junior Football by Jak Jessop: The junior football team had an amazing season throughout the winter, after winning it last year the boys wanted to defend their title. There was great rivalry against the Kings High School junior football teams that made the season even more interesting. Apart from the two Kings teams being our biggest rivals, the competition wasn't the most challenging with a lot of the games ending with 5 goals or more to John McGlashan College. Nevertheless, that didn't mean that the team didn't perform one hundred and ten percent in every single match. The final match was played against our biggest rivals Kings High School where it was a well-played match, with both sides playing amazingly throughout with lots of chances to score. However, when the whistle blew for full time, the score was 0-0. In the cold Southerly that blew, a gale threw Dunedin; John McGlashan College let in three quick goals, that were well deserved by Kings High School. As it turned out, it stayed that way and the end score was 0-3 to King High School. Overall, the John McGlashan College junior football team had an outstanding season with a lot of wins. Good stuff boys! John McGlashan College Football (2nds) by Ben Teviotdale: The team contained five fine boarding hostel members being Ben Teviotdale, Mingyu Jeong, Nick Worathongchai, and the youngest Jack Newlands. Throughout the season, we only won two games, losing the other thirteen games played. Although our season was not the best most of our games were close scoring with score margins such as 1-2. Nevertheless, as the season drew to an end, our team was performing better by playing to our coach’s structure. Overall, the boys fought hard and enjoyed the season. John
