I think, therefore IB

Brendan Porter —

Research suggests that there are many benefits to choosing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The programme aims to develop year 12 and 13 students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

John McGlashan College is the only school in Dunedin to offer the IBDP.  The IBDP is an alternative to NCEA and is ideal for all students who want to study at University.

In August, John McGlashan College will be hosting an IBDP information night to inform students in year 10 and 11 and their parents of the programme and how it may fit the individual student's goals and values for education in their final two years of study at the College.

The IB's Diploma Programme is different from other curricula because:

  • it encourages students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
  • subjects are not taught in isolation
  • it encourages students to consider both local and global contexts
  • it develops multilingual students

If you want to know more about the IBDP at John McGlashan College come along to the information night on the 22nd August 2019 at the College Chapel from 7 pm.
