Boxing

Boxer, Alex Hanan, won his third national title when competing in the New Zealand Championships. Alex beat a former champion and an undefeated fighter to claim the middleweight title.

Alex won the 75kg youth division at the New Zealand Nationals in Rotorua. This is his third National title. He got the bye in the first round, fought Chedyn Beach in the semi-finals (winning 3-0), then went on to the finals where he was up against the undefeated Auckland boxer Suran Juanmiry. Alex won 2-1.

He is now hoping to qualify for the Youth World Championships in St Petersburg in November. Qualification will be based on his performance at the Oceania box-off to be held in Canberra in September.
