12 Biology Field Trip to Blueskin Bay
On March 5 the year 12 biology students went to the Blueskin Bay mudflats to investigate the mudflat organisms.
The information obtained is to be used in their write up for an ecology internal Achievement Standard.
The day turned out to be very warm and pleasant and a good set of data was obtained. Unusual organisms observed included slug-like sea hares whose long tentacles resemble hare’s ears, hence the name.
The students also enjoyed tasting some NZ spinach and a cockle or two may have been consumed back at school!
