McGlashan Fencing 2019

Sharpen your swords and don your mask, fencing is making a comeback!

On Monday the 5th of August, the fencers of McGlashan gave a demonstration with all of the equipment. Fencers Tim Scott and Barend Jenkins (the 2019 leaders) gave the demonstration at the centre of the chapel, while Aidan Hung was introduced as the next fencing captain for 2020 and gave a speech inviting boys to sign up to the fast-paced sport.

To the club’s excitement, the presentation had gotten eleven new students to sign up. Tripling the size of the original class!

On Tuesday the following week, the class had their first lesson with all of the new students at Claymore Swords Club. All of the students enjoyed learning the basics and are excited to see what they’ll learn next week.

Fencing is a fast combat sport with a long history. It consists of three different styles: foil, epee and sabre. This sport trains reflexes, quick-thinking and intense exercise like most other sports.
