On Friday the 24th of April the College held its annual Anzac service in the Chapel.

We have changed bell times this term to accommodate the Sustained Silent Reading programme at the start of each day. This gives every boy the opportunity to read every day for ten minutes during extended form time.

S.A.D.D. (Students Against Driving Drunk) is a student run program that works to discourage drunk driving. We have two new reps and new ideas for SADD's presence within John McGlashan College.

Congratulations to the two JMC crews that had great success at the South Island Secondary Schools Sailing Championships.

Over the holidays 16 boys, eight parents and myself travelled to Singapore and Malaysia for the hockey development tour. 

We are currently seeking billets and helpers for three upcoming sport exchanges (STAC, WAIHI, and Uppingham Rugby).

The JMC School Cross-Country event is being held on Thursday 21st May. 

Go McGlashan Read 2015, what a success! As you know, Go McGlashan Read is our school readathon, to raise funds for The New Zealand Rare disease Foundation. It went spectacularly well this year, so thanks for all your efforts to support this.  

The weather couldn’t have been better as the Logan Park road relays rolled around for another year. 

John McGlashan College boys continue to excel across a number of sports.

The modern sport of fencing resembles a game of high speed chess, played in three dimensions.

Currently the focus of many physical education classes is training for the cross country.  

In March 2015 the JMC year 7 and 8 cricket team went up to Waihi for the annual cricket and tennis interschool matches. They travelled up after school one Tuesday and were billeted that night and everyone had a great time at the host families homes. 

Dear Parents, the International Department is very interested in seeking out new homestay providers.

It is time to put on those thinking caps and start sharpening up some hypotheses as the 2015 McGlashan Science Fair is beginning to take form.

Nic Taylor, Edward Bercinskas-Gauld and Fraser Reynolds have been expanding their scientific knowledge.

Between the 15th – 28th of March 27 John McGlashan College and Saint Hilda's Collegiate, families took part in our annual cultural exchange with Ichikawa High School from Japan.

Each year regional Shakespeare performances are held all around the country during term one.

What is courage?

On Friday 17th April, 10 international students went to Oamaru for the night with Mr Mountain and Mrs Noble.

Japanese school students channelled French mime artist Marcel Marceau and British character, "Mr Bean", in a range of different drama exercises and short performances during their drama session.
