Librarians' Training 2017

A love of books is not the only criteria to becoming a good librarian at John McGlashan College.

We always have a large group of students eager to be part of the library team, and this year is no exception. Fortunately we have a fantastic group of Senior Librarians who run our librarians' boot camp every Wednesday. These senior boys make the process a lot of fun and manage to pass on their skills in an innovative way.  As well as learning how to find their way around the library, students are taught the importance of excellent customer service and how this influences our library culture. It only takes a short time for boys to develop the confidence to promote books amongst their peers, gain a good working knowledge of the books in the collection and learn how the library works .

New librarians are awarded their badges in assembly and are encouraged to share their newly acquired expertise whenever they are in the library with their classmates.

Congratulations to new Class Librarians Matthew Taylor, Harrison Summers, Jacob Cushen and senior Daniel Tan. Great to have you on the library team boys.
