As the 2016 school year comes to an end, we are already looking ahead to the start of 2017.

Cultural Blues were recently awarded for excellence in achievement and service across a wide range of cultural and artistic disciplines, including both the performing and visual arts. This year has been a particularly successful one for the the college, with fifteen recipients.

Five days spent outside the classroom. Four activities completed by each group. Three different flavours of tuna. Two days walked with a pack on their back. One lucky group experienced both the wind and the gorse.

Our Year 13 Drama students were very fortunate to be able to use the Dunedin Slice of Life exhibition at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum for their major devising work during term three.

Student librarians and McGlashan staff gathered to celebrate the end of another wonderful year of bookish exploits in the library.

As the name implies, El Día de los Muertos is a day set aside to remember those who have died and is tradition dating back to the Aztecs in ancient Mexico. Far from being a day of sadness and mourning, it is a day of joy and celebration. 

Summer Holiday Reading Mystery Packs

 School, a place where we all have to come. Once it was the worst thing for me as I had to leave my home and parents for some time, but John McGlashan College has turned the cries of mine into laughter, and it made high school time a very special part of my life.

The college's senior prize-giving was held on 4th November in the Davies Sports Centre.

This year's junior speech finals raised the bar once again and there was a wonderful mix of topics and ideas.

This has been my first year at John McGlashan College as a Year 9 international student. It was great fun studying here. When I first arrived, I saw farms, hills and trees everywhere from the window, and thought it must be a good place to study.  

You win a national short film competition. In this case namely the ‘Kurzfilmfest 2016’ as organised by the Goethe Institute and ILEP in Wellington/Auckland. 

On Wednesday 14th September all of the Year 7 and 8 boys performed at the Otago Schools Maori and Pacific Island Festival - (Polyfest) in the Edgar Center.

On the 25th of November 2016 our small red van made its way up the South Island all the way to the thriving metropolis of Christchurch for the South Island Secondary Schools Water Polo Championships. 

The South Island Junior Volleyball Tournament began for us with a nine hour van ride up to Nelson leaving at 5:30am. Once we arrived and got settled into the holiday park we were staying at, the real fun was able to begin. 

On the 22nd of November, 11 Year 7 and 8's went down to the Caledonian for the Otago Athletic Championships. 

Sport at John McGlashan College continues to prosper.

Following a very successful year in Rugby, John McGlashan College is advertising for coaches and managers at all levels from 1st XV to Under-14 for the 2017 season. 

After some initial teething problems the new JMC sports uniform has met with wide spread approval.
