On Tuesday we had 3 teams of Senior students represent the school at the annual Secondary School Senior Volleyball Tournament at the Westland Rec Centre.

Mr. Mulcahy and I took 1 girls and 2 boys teams to participate in the tournament. It was a long day, but the school came away winning both divisions.

The girls were in Pool B, their first game of the day was against GHS B which they won 2 sets. Then they played SWAS which they won 2 sets. Then they played Karamea which they won 2 sets. Their semi-final was against Pool A winners GHS A which they won 2 sets to 1 set. So that put them in the final to play SWAS again which the won 2 sets. Taking away 1st place.

The Boys Grey JP II A team was in Pool B, their first game of the day was against GHS which they won 2 sets to 1 set. Then they played WHS which they won 2 sets. Then they played Karamea which they won 2 sets. They then played their semi-final against BHS which they won 2 sets. In the final, they came up against GHS again which they won 2 sets for first place.

The boys Maroon JP II B team were in Pool A, they played GHS M first which they lost 2 sets to 1. Then they played BHS which they won 2 sets to 1 set. Next came SWAS which they lost 2 sets to 1 set. They then played Karamea in a semi-final which they won 2 sets to 1 set. This result put them in playing for 5/6 placing in which they played SWAS and lost 2 sets to 1 set. So, our Maroon B team came away with 6th place.

It was a great day and the students represented the school well with a great result by all.
