Stations of the Cross

Abina Pope —

Every Palm Sunday all the churches in Mawhera / Greymouth are supplied with these palms.

Last Friday evening students from John Paul II led the Stations of the Cross.

Today the school had a visit from the Christchurch Diocese Youth Team, and Fr Mat was here hosting Reconciliation for our students and Confirmation Candidates.

Preparation is under way for the Holy Thursday Liturgy, after almost a year the school can now come together as one and participate in our catholic worship. The theme for our Holy Week is taken from the writings of Henri Nouwen with accompanying images from Ukrainian artists. Pope Francis I has encouraged the worldwide catholic community to continually pray for positive outcome.

“Now in the night of war that is fallen upon humanity,

let us not allow the dream of peace to fade”. PF 1

Prayer

Merciful God, as we enter Holy week, turn our hearts again to Jerusalem, and to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Stir up within us the gift of faith that we may not only praise him with our lips but may follow him in the way of the cross.
