Open Day Review

JPIIHS —

The new group for 2021 seems to be full of excitement and enthusiasm.

Wednesday 17 June was our Open Day for 2020. Mr. Sullivan changed the format this year to include an address from the Principal and Head Students at the beginning of the day. Along with this, the new students and their families were taken around to four learning areas where they participated in a lesson to have some hands-on experience of what studying at JPII is like. They went from Food Technology where the new students iced cupcakes, to Music where they got to have a go with some instruments under the guidance of our current music students. Technology showed them the workshop with some actual craftsmanship happening and Science invited the new students to join in some experiments with a regular class.

Many thanks to the students for taking pride in their school when they engaged with the new students. Thank you to the Year 10 Tour Guides who showed the groups around, answering questions from the parents and reassuring the new students that high school isn't nearly as scary as they were thinking.

The morning ended with a cup of tea and cakes in the library where parents got to meet a range of other teaching staff as well as the Year 13 leaders.
