On Wednesday we had 3 teams entered in the Junior Secondary Schools basketball tournament that was held at the Rec Centre.

Girls – Halos team

The girls' first game was against Greymouth High School which they lost 46-14. Their second game was against Buller High School which they lost 43-8. The final game of the day for the girls was against Westland High School which they won 8-6.

Boys – Deacons

The boys' first game was against Greymouth High School which they lost 69-11. Their second game was against Westland High School which they lost 41-22. Their last game of the day was against South Westland High School which was a real nail biter of a game with the final score in the last 2 seconds of the game was 20-19 to South Westland.

Boys – Marist

Marist’s first game of the day was against South Westland High School which they won 57-22. Their second game was against Buller High School which they lost 60-49. They then played semi final against Greymouth High School which they won 41-33. They then played Buller High School in the finals which they won 46-42 and 1st place in the tournament.

It was a great day had by all. I would like to thank Bronah, Derek and Lofa for helping out for the day reefing. Also a big thank you to the coaches Trish Lockington, Anita Calder and Mac Gibson.
