Priyani de Silva-Currie has been appointed as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the 2025 New Year's Honours .

Priyani has received this honour for her services to multicultural communities, netball and civil engineering over the past 30 years.

Priyani grew up in Shakespeare St. Her mum was a nurse at Grey Base and later at Kowhai Manor. Her dad worked at the Mines office and in later life was part of the St Vinnies team who visited the local rest homes. 

Priyani attended St Patrick's and John Paul II (1985-1999). Priyani was involved with netball as well as excelling in all curriculum areas. 

It is wonderful to see her get recognised for her work in a range of areas. She lives and works in Nelson.
