Careers Event, Monday September 21st
Please can you help us?
Dear whānau,
Please can you help us?
I’m trying to get as many different local professions/businesses together as possible for a careers event at John Paul II High School on Monday 21st September.
Over the past few months I’ve been working on strategies to improve the focus of our students. I’ve found that a lot of disengagement comes from confusion over career pathways. In order to support them with this I’m hoping to bring together a large group of local professionals to share their expertise and experience.
We’re planning to hold it in the style of a conference, with 4 sessions of about 12min each so students can pick 4 careers they’re interested in.
Speakers would be asked to talk for 10 minutes on their area and cover the following:
- Describing what the job entails on a day to day basis
- Skills and characteristics required for the job. (Linking these to schoolwork where possible).
- Qualifications and experience required. (Linking these to schoolwork where possible).
- Career progression within the field
Conference sessions will be between 2:10pm - 3:10pm. If you or some of your colleagues are willing to help please contact me asap by email holly.lindsay@johnpaul.ac.nz .
Ngā mihi,
