What a fantastic 4 days our Year 10 students, staff and parents had at the Boyle River Camp in the Lewis Pass area last week. Students all went on an overnight tramp up to the Magdalen Hut and slept out in tents, cooked their own food and learnt about caring for our environment, river crossing techniques and compass reading along with many other outdoor skills. Other activities included rock climbing, boulder climbing, high ropes, low ropes, team building activities and a solo activity at night.
Thanks to the Boyle River staff for working with us and extending the students outside their comfort zone to achieve great results. I would like to thank Andrea, Anita, Wayne, Zana and Elz, for being fantastic parent supporters. I would also like to thank Merv Ellis for his great photography and Ms Pope for ensuring all the students were well fed and helped out with duties around the lodge. I would especially like to thank the Year 10 students for their wonderful behaviour, and their support and encouragement of others and staff. I really enjoyed getting to know you all better.
(Please read the attached article that I came across in the Sun newspaper - it is very worthwhile reading).
Next week will be a busy time for the Year 9 and 10 students with two days of fun activities (Wednesday & Thursday). Please ensure you bring your vaccination pass, which is needed to go in to some places eg. Regent Theatre. Thank you to Ms Lindsay for organising these activities for the students.
At our last BOT meeting two resignations of staff were accepted for next year - Ms Holly Lindsay and Mrs Jamily Anderson. We wish you both all the best for the future.
The new Covid-19 traffic light system comes into effect today with it's own set of restrictions, although they are not too different than what we have been experiencing at Level 2, and it hasn't changed the restrictions on our prize giving. As a reminder:
9th Dec - JPII Yr 11 & 12 Prizegiving, Hall, 2pm, (no audience)
9th Dec - JPII Yr 13 Prizegiving (+ 2022 Student Leaders), St Patrick's Church, 6pm, (two guests each only)
10th Dec - JPII Yr 9 & 10 Prizegiving, MM1, 2pm, (no audience)
I look forward to being able to congratulate our students and for their many achievements over what has been an interesting 2021.
