It was great to see some of our students play in the Matt Gunter Memorial Rugby Game.

Last Friday 3 of our students, Mac Gibson, Aston Wilson and Netana Kanara, joined with Greymouth High School's 1st XV Rugby team to play against Nelson Boy’s College.  This is an annual memorial game for Matt Gunter who is a past Nelson Boys College student, and a Greymouth lad. It was such a great game to watch, thinking that with the score being 28-24 to Grey High, they were going to take the trophy - however, in the last 2 minutes of play, Nelson Boys came out of nowhere winning the game 31-28.

Next year is going to be the 10th Anniversary of Matt passing, and Nelson Boys would like to hold a special curtain raiser game before the main 1st XV game. They would like to get as many of the original players that played that 1st game to come back and play.  So any past students that played in these memorial games over the past 10 years that may be interested, please contact me at terena.molloy@johnpaul.ac.nz.

All Inter-schools Sport is Cancelled

Due to new guidelines from the Ministry of Health, School Sports NZ have cancelled all schools' sporting events for the rest of the year. I know this is very disappointing for the students but unfortunately this is what we must do now, to keep ourchildren safe. Roll on 2022 for a better year - that hopefully we will be able to complete all sporting events.

Town and Country League Game

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the annual JPII Town and Country league game that was going to be held on the 5th of November.  This is due to new guidelines for schools from the Ministry (as above). 

We are looking into running a fun sports afternoon at the school for the students.  Details to be confirmed, watch this space!
