Tēnā koutou

And just like that another term flashes by! I would like to acknowledge our fantastic teaching and non-teaching staff for all the work they do daily to make JPII a great place to be. Our students have again adapted to a national lockdown and distance learning, come back to school to work at pace through a myriad of assessments, and extra study to catch up.

I would also like to pass on my appreciation to our parents and families who have provided feedback about our approach to lockdown. If you would still like to share your thoughts, follow this link:  https://forms.office.com/r/M6203San7S

Term 4 will also be a busy one. We will start week 1 with a fantastic Beekeeping course – look out for photos in the next newsletter. Please keep 18 November (last day for seniors, and Yr 13 leaver's dinner), and 9 December (full school mass and prizegiving) in your diaries.

Senior derived grades exams are coming up in Week 2 of Term 4 (26-29 October). These grades will be used if a student is unwell and can’t attend the external exam in November. With NCEA exams pushed back by two weeks, these will be a more accurate measure of predicted student achievement come November.

We encourage all students to take a break in the holidays after completing their internals and study. Below is the timetable for the derived grade exams. We will be sending out a second set of senior reports after exams, instead of parent-teacher-student conferences, although our teachers are available to discuss your child’s progress if you would also like a conversation.

Trapping update:

Our keen trappers have all completed their 14 credit, Level 2, Predator Control course, and they did have some success. I wish to acknowledge the efforts of our students, and Madeleine Castle and Jason Briggs for all their work with this motley crew! The Blaketown cycle way is free of a few more mice after their efforts!

Enjoy a well-deserved break, and we look forward to welcoming you all back next term.

Ngā mihi nui
