Catholic Character —

Hail, glorious St. Patrick, dear saint of our isle,

On us thy poor children bestow a sweet smile.

And now thou art high in the mansions above,

On Westland’s green valley’s look down in thy love.

The connections of Mawhera are linked over generations to our Irish forebears who travelled so far to make a better life for their families. Also, the rich Catholic tradition that they bought with them, closely followed by the Sisters of Mercy and the Marist Brothers. Indeed, a rich tapestry to inherit.

This is the last week to enrol for the Confirmation programme, taking place on 18th May, Feast Day of St John Paul II. Please see Ms Pope or Mr Ellis for further details.

This Friday we have a fund raising day for Tonga, incorporating aspects of sports day, the traditional BBQ, ice creams and whanau competitions. This is a joint venture with PE, Sports Science, and the Catholic character committee.

There are lots of photos to enjoy that reflect the spirit of the day.

Prayer

Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Saviour as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
