12 OED hit the track!

Kelly Jordan —

On Tuesday our Outdoor Ed class went to Reefton. We went on the Murray Creek track at Blacks Point on our mountain bikes.

This took us uphill over intermediate terrain and then back down again after we stopped for lunch at the gold mine called Energetic mine. This was for our mountain biking assessment we are working on in class.

We are very grateful to our reliever, Mrs Killkelly North, for helping us this term and taking us on this excellent but challenging fun day of mountain biking.

For our assessment, we had to be assessed to pass a 2-hour mountain bike ride over the intermediate to expert terrain. We were assessed by Nathan Topp, an experienced mountain bike rider. Not only did he observe us ride but also quiz us on maps, bike checks, loading bikes and the mountain bike code.

We are glad that we had great weather and this amazing opportunity. We are looking forward to our next ride in Term 4 on the cowboys paradise wilderness cycle trail.
