The vision of Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa is shaped by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the cry of Papatūānuku. The call of the Gospel and the spirit of Catherine McAuley, inspire Mercy’s vision to unfold in transformative action within these contexts and in the emerging needs of today’s society.

Blessed Catherine McAuley, Mercy Day is on 24/9/21. Mercy Week, 20th-24th September. The focus is supporting the sisters of Mercy Mission in Mawhera.

Many thanks to the wider school community who are contributing to our Mercy Mission drive this month, Sister Mary Ellen has taken a big parcel to the Mercy Sisters on our behalf. If you would like to donate, we are looking for personal toiletries, combs, hairbrushes, tinned goods, flannels, and small hand towels etc, to make up parcels for the random acts of kindness the sisters do so well. Please leave these at the front office.

There are plans in place for Social Justice activities, naturally all subject to the covid response level.
On 29th September we will participate in the circle of prayer celebrating Catholic Schools Day in the diocese.
The Catholic Youth Team are calling in for two lunchtime sessions with the students, a mix and mingle on 30/9/21 and 1/10/21.

We are still planning for the Remar exchange with Catholic Cathedral College in the holidays, if we do not reach Level 1, we will look at Zoom options.
In October we are looking forward to hosting the Polish Ambassador to commemorate the Papal Visit to Aotearoa of St John Paul II. The date set is 22/10/21, the feast day of St John Paul II.

To be in whanaungatanga – right relationship – is to enhance the quality of human life; and it’s also a call for humans to be at home with the Earth, with all other living species. Knowing that all of us belong is one of Mercy’s gifts; recognising that all living creatures are interconnected, is another.
