SPORT at John Paul II

As Covid-19 restrictions ease, sports competitions are getting underway.

Time away from training and games for illness/isolation will impact teams, however, competition organisers are doing their best to work around this. We do not have a Sports Coordinator yet, so Jasmine Dodemaide supported by Madeline Campbell are doing what they can to help students participate. It is hoped that later in term two Jasmine will be able to take over this busy role alongside her teaching. Thanks to Trish Lockington and Maddy Crawford who have been a big help with Basketball.

We welcome any support from parents and whānau to help us help the students participate in the sports they love.

Basketball Update

U15 National Basketball Squad – Antonio Verhoeven

Congratulations to Antonio Verhoeven who was selected in the Basketball Under 15 Boys National Squad to attend the national selection camp.

“These athletes have been selected from the U15 Regional Selection Trials held in October 2021 and January this year, as well as from prior National Camps and National Championships. This selection camp will be these players’ last exposure activity before the U15 National Championships, after which 12 boys and 12 girls will be selected for the U15 National Teams.”

Nio was also named this week in the West Coast Rugby League U16s Academy and Development Squad.
