In Aotearoa New Zealand Sunday June 19th is a Day of Prayer for Refugees & Migrants.[1]

Pope Francis reminds us that we should be fostering relationships and welcoming all with open arms. We should no longer think in terms of “us and them”, but rather as “we”, celebrating connections rather than concentrating on differences. We are one human family. (Caritas)

19th June is also the Solemnity of Corpus Christi which calls us to focus on two manifestations of the Body of Christ - the Holy Eucharist and the Church. While our primary focus is on the Eucharist, we are also reminded that our worship of Jesus in His Body and Blood calls us to offer to God our Father a pledge of undivided love and an offering of ourselves to the service of others.

Congratulations to all those participating in the Eucharist for the first time.

The Feast of the Body and Blood is the appropriate day for the celebration of Holy Communion. We have 6 children receiving Jesus for the first time in their life today (Sunday) at the 9.30m Mass in our parish. What an amazing moment! Let us offer our prayers for these young ones as they begin their journey carrying Jesus in their hearts.

God bless you all.
