From the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference

The New Zealand Catholic Bishops and Congregational Leaders are committed publicly to upholding their responsibilities to act to stop abuse in the Catholic Church, and to learn the lessons of how to respond to what has already happened in the care of Catholic entities in Aotearoa New Zealand. The production of this data is an important part of helping to understand how abuse happened, so our safeguarding work and related policies ensure a better future.

This material on statistical reports of abuse from 1950 to the present was prepared by Tautoko in an Information Gathering Project from archive material compiled for the Royal Commission on Abuse in Care. This and the February material have been made public as soon as practicable in the interest of transparency and good faith.
