We all know that regular school attendance, that is attendance above 90%, is essential for student attainment, progress, and wellbeing.

At John Paul II, we monitor student attendance daily and will follow up when students start to dip below 90% for unexplained absences.

The Mawhera Kāhui Ako has employed Robert Evans as the attendance officer to help families and students with attendance when we can see non-attendance is becoming a problem. We know that low student attendance is complex and the result of many factors. If you have any trouble getting your student to school, please contact their year level Dean, or the school attendance officer. All details are on our website.

For students with attendance 70% or less, you will be receiving an email and/or a visit from Robert Evans (evansr@greyhigh.school.nz) to help support your student back into regular attendance. We will work alongside Robert to support all our learners to be at school and successfully engaged in their learning and peer relationships.

If you have any questions about student attendance, please don’t hesitate to speak to us.
