Youth Week is next week 30 May - 3 June, here is what is happening during breaks join in and have some fun.

The 2022 Youth Week theme is: Our voices matter, and we deserve to be heard!”

Youth week started in 1995 alongside other events throughout Canada. It has now grown and is celebrated each year in all different countries worldwide.  Aotearoa New Zealand had their first Youth Week in the late 1990s alongside the NZAAHD weaving first festival.  The main idea is to get young people more creative and gather as a whole to celebrate.  In 2010 Youth Week in New Zealand started to have the celebrations of Ara Taiohi.

Youth week within schools and communities is organised by young people to celebrate the local young people’s passion, talent, and success.  The main idea is to aim to get more people involved and contribute to their communities by doing events and activities where they can throughout the week.  The main reason it was brought to Aoteroa is to have more young people be more vibrant and optimistic and be supported to join in a challenge.  The events are made to encourage people to take on something that they are afraid to do or never have done.  Youth week also recognises the youth workers and youth service providers and other people working alongside young people.  The Youth Week identifies youth as 12-24 years old

John Paul II has some great activities running to challenge students to step up and have some fun.

We will be holding a photo competition to help get everyone involved and show their talents, skills and their fun side.
