Catholic Character

Upon his Ascension, Jesus gives us a mission of proclaiming God's love for all.

Celebrating Jesus' Ascension, we are not just looking to the sky, but are invited to fulfill the mission of proclaiming the Good News of salvation to people of all tongues and nations.

This mission is accomplished, not only by words, but also by our deeds and life, especially by our concrete commitments and sacrifices.

As we move toward Pentecost, (Hag Shavuot in the Jewish calendar) the Catholic Character hub is preparing for the Liturgy to celebrate Pentecost and from 7 – 10th June Whanau and Staff prayer to St Marcellin Champagnat. St Marcellin founded the Marist Brothers who, in 1866 established the Marist school here in Mawhera. It must be noted that the Brothers travelled here on the S.S. Mawhera.

Ongoing professional development for the new Catholic Curriculum, Wonderfully Made in God’s Image took place in Rangoria this week, attending for JPII was our Principal, Renee Hutchinson and Ms. Pope, Director of Catholic Character. This programme is being implemented throughout Catholic Schools Aotearoa.

Stay warm and God bless
